I decided to do some more research and learned more about Gordon Gahan. I’ve decided to add him to my list of “Heros” if you will. (Basically it’s people who I admire for one reason or another.) I have to say he probably had one of the coolest jobs ever! He worked as a photographer for the National Geographic Society. He had the chance to travel to several places around the world, some of those places were France, Portugal, Guatemala, Columbia, Australia and tons more. He later co-founded Prism Photography Inc. in NYC. I was sad to learn that Mr. Gahan is no longer among us. He died in a helicopter crash while taking aerial photographs in the Virgin Islands. But in his memory and my new found inspiration here are some of his photographs.
I also discovered there this awesome site called National Geographic Back Issues. It lets you get previous issues that have been printed. And I think that I found the issue that the image “Young Lovers in Paris” was originally published in. Being like 99% positive I ordered the issue and can’t wait to have my own copy!

I am obsessed with this photograph. The problem is I can’t seem to find any story about it. I can’t even find an article that talks about it, which is amazing really since I’ve been provided with what seems to be a lot of information. Granted, my skills at searching for a particular photo might not be excellent, but still. When all I get are endless links to tumblr pages it gets to be rather despairing. If any of you know anything about this photo please feel free to share the information with me!
I know I’ve shown these videos to friends before but I just can’t help myself. I am obsessed! It’s two of my favorite things combined and when that happens…well I have to share them! These are some amazing videos of various locations around the world. The typography and clips of different cultures make for quite a treat. So below are some videos, there’s tons more that you can find on youtube. Barcelona is still probably my favorite at the moment but I wouldn’t mind spending time in any of these places, even the ones I’ve already visited.
That’s right it’s Saturday! After work I will be spending the rest of my day in wonderful Santa Barbara. Gonna put on the Ray Bans, roll down the Subaru’s windows, and turn up the volume and cruise to Ben Howard’s “Only Love“. Have a great weekend!
Whoo! This was such a burst of happiness on my day just now. My business cards finally came in today and I couldn’t be more happy! Moo did a great job. I went with the Luxe style. There presentation was crazy cool too. Tons of little details that have me inspired to make something. I love that feeling.
And if you haven’t checked it out already…check out my portfolio site too! Let me know what you think!
I came across this video of tarp surfing here. And I thought to myself, oh cool these people came up with something totally original and awesome. Turns out this is kind of a thing…lots of people do it! I think its uber cool. I have a feeling I might just have to make video soon. I’m dying to do a project where I can do some editing. (Hey little bro you should come visit with your long board yea?) Anywho check out these screen shots and the video, I hope you find it as crazy cool as I did! Also great song choice as well I might add.
That’s right today is International Surfing Day. My advice? Log off, shut down and go ride, or at least spend some time in the sun and the water. (Which is what I plan to do after this post.) But in the meantime why not learn about Katie McLean. Katie was one of three finalists for the ROXY “Let the Sea Set You Free” competition. I have to say she is definitely my favorite. Not only does she surf but she has mad skills in video, painting, and drawing. Her website is crazy cool, I love the design. Below are the videos she entered in the competition.
Like I said she’s pretty awesome. I admire both her work and her lifestyle.
Shot in Abu Dhabi, the short-film features Aussie surfer Dion Agius shredding and unleashing at the ‘world’s best wave pool’. The concept also includes 10 Russian models, a lamborghini, and Agius pumping virtually every air in the book..
