TRAVEL

My desire to travel is getting the best of me again. My latest inspiration is the movie “The Impossible” which if you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend that you do. Having had the opportunity to travel with my family in the past has shown me how exciting it is, and I long to do more of it. With a path that has led to working with several non-profits; I have instilled in myself a passion to be a part of something bigger than myself, and to help others. I am very much interested in voluntourism or working while traveling. Anything that will allow me to experience the culture, help out if I can, and all on a budget that I may be able to manage.

If anyone has any advice I’d greatly appreciate it! What programs have you used? What stories might you have to share? What are some resources that you would recommend?

Also, another great movie that initially sparked my desire to travel that I suggest you view as well: “180 Degrees South.”

ADVENTURE

ImageAdventure: a synonym for living.

Well, at least for me. This past weekend was crazy busy with wedding shenanigans. I met some really cool people and had an absolute blast! And now more than ever I am craving an adventure. My best friend is leaving soon for 5 months in Australia. I wanna go too! Actually I’ve already been and I think I’d like to go somewhere I haven’t been yet. Either was I’m ready for an Adventure.

THE BUCKET LIST

Being a recent college graduate, from the wonderful California Polytechnic State University, I realize my life is just beginning. There is so much this world has to offer and I feel that I’d be a fool not to seize every opportunity I can. So with this is mind I’ve decided to break out my bucket list that I started last winter break to see what is on it and what I’d like to add. So far I’m on my way to completing one of my tasks and I’m extremely excited about it! (That would be running my first full marathon.) But I thought I’d share my bucket list with you. Do you have a bucket list? What’s on your list?

My Bucket List

  • Run a FULL marathon
  • Go on a road trip with friends

  • Add a lock to a Lover’s Bridge
  • Watch soccer in Madrid
  • Ride on the back of a motorcycle

LIVE THE LANGUAGE

I know I’ve shown these videos to friends before but I just can’t help myself. I am obsessed! It’s two of my favorite things combined and when that happens…well I have to share them! These are some amazing videos of various locations around the world. The typography and clips of different cultures make for quite a treat. So below are some videos, there’s tons more that you can find on youtube. Barcelona is still probably my favorite at the moment but I wouldn’t mind spending time in any of these places, even the ones I’ve already visited.

Enjoy!

Planning to Travel

With Graduation fast approaching…(Hellloooooo Saturday!) Everyone seems to be packing up and getting ready to travel. I’m so bummed out that I’m not traveling with them…even though I’ve offered to fold myself up into my friend’s suitcase. So I’m making a promise to myself to start planning and saving up so that I can travel summer of 2013! I’ve never planned a trip on my own so any advice you may have please feel free to share!

About

Image

Hello, my name is Ellen.

I’m studying Graphic Design, at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. I have hopes of finding a career in advertising or magazines in sunny L.A. I currently work as an ad designer for my college newspaper, the Mustang Daily. I’m also a social strategist for California Kiteboarding, in Pismo Beach.

In my free time-or rather all the time-I enjoy design, fashion, food, and traveling (which I hope to do more of.) The following just touch the surface. When it comes to design I love my Communication Arts, Behance, Dribbble, Pinterest, Awwwards, The Designer’s Survival Guide, Rue, and Emily Henderson.  For fashion I enjoy Elle, Vogue, Could I Have That, J Crew, Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Burberry, Sienna Miller, and Bambi Northwood Blyth. In the kitchen I look to Jamie Oliver and Oh She Glows, and now I need to try recipes from my new cook book Plenty. As for the places I wish to travel to I’ll tell you about 10 (since the whole world seems somewhat vague). How about Ireland, Brazil, Thailand, India, Chile, Italy, France, Peru, Uganda, and New Zealand for starters.

As for the name L&N I picked for two simple reasons. When you pronounce my first name (Ellen) it sounds like just that, L…N. As for the ampersand, well, I just think it’s a beautiful figure and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to use it. So there you have it…L&N.
